At the desk and beyond: Cygnific’s approach to well-being 

People spend a large part of their week at work. This raises an important question for employers: what responsibility do you have for the well-being of your employees? Cygnific takes this responsibility very seriously with a comprehensive approach. Because what other way is there to look at it? The Cambridge Dictionary defines well-being as ‘the state of feeling healthy and happy’. And when you start to think about what influences your health and happiness, the list becomes quite long. Here are some of the things we do to support Cygnificans. 

Physical well-being

Let’s start with one of the first things that comes to mind, our physical well-being. Our renovated office has ergonomically responsible workplaces with state-of-the-art sit-stand desks to promote different postures during your workday. We even have some desk bikes as movement during work not only stimulates your fitness but also your brain activity. Since working at home is part of our routine now, we also offer our Cygnificans many tools, tips and tricks to create a healthy work environment at home. When you’re done with your work, you can join our running club which was founded on the initiative of Diego Anriquez, Manager Customer Services Europe:  

“Running unites us! Running has shown me that dedication, hard work, consistency and passion will get us far. Whether it’s at work, sports or exams. At Cygnific, we meet once a week after work to run away the day, calibrate our minds and bodies and meet our colleagues in a different setting, giving us tips and encouraging each other via sport”.  

 

If running is not your thing, Cygnificans can get a gym membership subscription with discount. 

Mental and emotional well-being

Life can throw many challenges at you. Consequently, you may experience symptoms such as sadness, anxiety, sleep disorders, unresolved grief or depression. Cygnific wants to offer a safe environment in which colleagues can talk about these experiences while exploring the underlying causes. This can be helpful in finding ways to cope with them. As part of our commitment to foster a supportive and safe environment, we offer the help of an independent external social worker and psychologist. They visit our office regularly for private appointments, so help is never far away. Support is available for colleagues who are dealing with work-related and/or personal issues. 

Social well-being

Let’s talk about social well-being from the angle of diversity and inclusion. Diversity is about the existence of different characteristics in a group of people. Diverse organisations consist of people with a variety of unique backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. Inclusion is about the environment in which diversity grows. Inclusive work environments allow employees from diverse backgrounds to feel welcome and show their most authentic selves. We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace and we acknowledge there is always room for improvement. We nourish our culture and value the uniqueness of everyone we welcome in our company. But this is not something we can take for granted, it takes work and effort from everyone

We encourage continuous learning and professional development. And we couldn’t do that without our Learning & Development department. They offer our colleagues the opportunity to grow in product knowledge, customer service skills, people skills and job-related knowledge. We even have our own Cygnific library with a wide range of books available for all colleagues to borrow. 

Financial well-being

Financial well-being

As an employer, we understand there might be different situations that negatively affect the personal finances of our employees. Sometimes, you can foresee this financial impact, for instance when you sign up for a 3-year education. Other times, there are unforeseen situations, such as hospitalisation. Struggling financially can often lead to health issues for the people involved, both mentally and physically, and that is where we can provide support. We encourage struggling colleagues to talk with someone they know and trust, our company doctor or social worker.  

Work-life balance

Cygnific applies a flexible working from home policy. However, we ask colleagues to stay connected to the company and come to the office regularly. And Cygnificans can set up their workstation from anywhere in the world, as long as it’s safe. Many of our international colleagues combine work with family and friends who live abroad by making use of our flexible Working from Abroad arrangements.
